While being diagnosed with a chronic illness is a life changing event, it doesn’t mean that life is over.

“The Swan Song Can Wait” follows soprano Mandy Brown’s cancer journey as she copes with hardship, adapts with grace and humor, and finds hope and joy as she pursues her love of singing. In collaboration with pianist, Tatiana Loisha, this intimate performance blends poetry and a variety of musical styles and languages formatted in four sets: Life Before, Chaos of Diagnosis, Adapting, and New Perspective.

This recital was created with the aim of challenging preconceived notions about what those with chronic illness are capable of. As a passionate breast cancer advocate for singers, Mandy hopes by sharing her story, others facing a difficult diagnosis will harness their own creativity and find their way forward. Following the performance, there will be a Q&A for audience members.

This performance will take place at the historic George Peabody Music Library with In The Stacks concert series on October 8th, 2026 at 6:30pm. Mandy is delighted to be joining maestra Dr.Molly Donnelly and the Montgomery College Chorus as their soprano soloist for the Rutter Magnificat. This performance will take place on Friday, November 20th at 7:30pm at Christ Episcopal Church in Rockville, MD. This concert is free and open to the public.

Mandy Brown will be making her debut with Bay Atlantic Symphony under the direction of Jed Gaylin as a featured soloist for their Holiday Cheer concert. This is the perfect way to celebrate the winter holidays with friends and family. There are two separate dates and venues in New Jersey for the performances. Mandy Brown and pianist, Patrick O'Donnell, will be joining together to present a world premiere of these new vocalises by composer, Steven Schwarz. The FMMC composer's forum concert will be Friday, February 19th at 12pm at Live! At 10th & G in Washington DC. This performance is free and open to the public.
